Making A Wish
Where tradition meets tomorrow
The 2021 CAMERA JAPAN Festival design merged traditional Daruma dolls with futuristic cyberpunk vibes.
We chose the Kanji character 願 (がん・gan) to go on the Daruma doll. Gan means 'to wish' and 'to hope'.
By blending this character with a cyber-punk Daruma doll illustration, we wanted to celebrate Japan's amazing robotics expertise.
We wished for the global COVID-19 situation to improve so people could return to normal life. We were thrilled when this came true, especially when China ended its 'zero COVID' policy in late 2022.
Colors and meanings
Red: good luck; Blue: success in business; Black: protection from evil spirits; Green: health and physical condition; Orange: prosperity.
